We are looking for previously unpublished pieces in all styles and genres of non-fiction. Essays, memoirs, interviews, articles, and documentaries are all welcome. We are especially interested in publishing authors based in the Philadelphia area, or authors who have called Philadelphia their home.
You may submit up to 12 pages of work, double spaced, in 12-pt. Times New Roman font with standard margins. You are equally welcome to submit a series of short pieces or a single long piece, so long as the total submission does not exceed 12 pages double-spaced. Please number your pages if possible.
At the top of the first page, please include a header with your name, email, and phone number. Please also include your current city (e.g. “Philadelphia, PA”) in either your header or your bio.
Please submit all work together in a single .pdf or .docx file.
If you are submitting multiple pieces, please begin each new piece on a new page, with an underlined title. If your piece does not have a title, please revert to “Untitled”.
If you are submitting original work in another language or a collaborative translation, please separate English and the alternate language version in succession, each starting on its own page.
If submitting a video documentary or essay, please submit up to 5 minutes of material as a single video file. File format must be compatible with YouTube upload regulations and requirements; MP4s are preferred. If selected for publication, APIARY will publish your work on a private APIARY Hive YouTube channel, which will be unveiled on our website alongside print content for APIARY 9.
Have a hybrid piece and not sure where it should go? Use your best judgement. Our editors will contact you if they have any questions. If YOU have questions about a potential cross-genre submission, email us at email@example.com. Please note that this email is for questions only. All work MUST be submitted via Submittable.
Accepted work is deemed final unless otherwise noted. All rights revert to the author upon publication.
